We live in a fast-moving world with constant bombardment from media pressures. By using highly edited versions of both reports and photos, many of these present false images with unrealistic goals and young people are particularly affected by these. By trying to attain such standards they are under massive pressure to perform well and to look good. Anxiety levels are now reportedly very high amongst the young, leading to widespread concern for their happiness and even mental health.

Adults can help by encouraging them to: question the facts; express their worries; share their concerns; develop their own self-help strategies; use time and activities to defer their worries until they can do something about them.

The ‘Anxiety Poster’ covers all these aspects and can be used as a teaching tool or as an aide-memoire to remind students of the strategies.
 
These posters give children and young people some ideas of how to deal with anxious feelings.
