The aim of these cards is to promote discussion on the topic of cyberbullying, and to encourage young people to think about disclosing cyberbullying.
Four separate areas are covered:
• Tackling cyberbullying
• The impact of cyberbullying and who is the target
• Online safety
• Characteristics of cyberbullies
For each of the 30 statements there is an accompanying brief highlighting key aspects that could be raised relating to the statement in the accompanying booklet.
The statements are based on the findings of a series of research studies undertaken by Dr Lucy Betts, Department of Psychology, Nottingham Trent University.
About the Author: Dr Lucy Betts CPsychol Csci AFBPsS FHEA is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Nottingham Trent University.
Lucy's main research interests lie within the area of social developmental psychology. In particular, Lucy's work focuses on experiences of cyber bullying, face-to-face bullying, and harassment. One current strand of research examines young people’s experiences of cyber bullying, the impacts of cyber bullying for psychosocial adjustment, and adolescents' perceptions of the relative risk of experiencing cyber bullying. A second strand of ongoing research explores young people’s experiences of street harassment.
