Resilience is a key skill for success in all aspect of life: personal, social, academic, emotional, and even physical as a lack of resilience can lead to poor decisions and a tendency towards risk-taking behaviours.
Without resilience students find it difficult to accept setbacks and to face new situations and this can lead to low achievement and unfulfilled potential.
Resilience does not come naturally but key skills must be learned: knowing one’s own strengths; having positive values; building support networks; appreciating that one is in control of one’s own destiny.
This set of 40 cards each contain one statement for discussion and may be used in a variety of situations which could include individual work, small or large groups.
Also included are Teacher Notes for Guidance which outline the seven key aspects involved in resilience and give suggestions as to how the cards may be used, together with useful background information on the topic.
